Moong dal- Dalia khilwa Khichdi



Ingredients- Broken Wheat ) - ½ cup Washed split moong dal(yellow moong dal ) - ½ cup vegetables of choice -1cup Chopped Green chili – ½ tsp Water – 2 cups olive Oil or Pure Ghee– 1 tbsp Heeng powder (asafoetida) – ½ pinch Cumin seeds – 1 tsp Salt and garam masala powder to taste.lemon slice ,Tomatoes and chopped coriander leaves to garnish

Method – Wash and soak moong dal and dalia for 30 minutes separately. Leave in a colander for 5 minutes. Heat ½ tsp of ghee or oil in a pan and add dalia and moong dal mixture. Fry it till it turns light brown. Remove the mixture from heat and set aside. Again heat the pan with remaining ghee or oil. Add cumin seeds, asafoetida powder. When they crackle, add the chopped vegetables (chopped beans, capsicum, carrot, green chili and green peas). Mix well and keep stirring for 3-4 min on medium heat. Add dalia and moong dal mixture to it. Mix it well. Add 2 cups of water and salt according to taste. Mix it and put a lid. Let it cook for about 8-10 min at very low heat. Open and check that everything is cooked completely Garnish with garam masala powder,lemon slice, Tomatoes and chopped coriander leaves. Moong dal- Dalia khilwa Khichdi Khichdi is ready.
